Move Prep Final Week – Tuesday

Well, today is once again ending with completed to-do’s woefully short of the target.

The 90+ degree heat with high humidity certainly did not help.

I did get the rest of the food loaded, all the dishes, bedding, towels, bathroom stuff, and my clothes all loaded into the trailer.

Didn’t drive anywhere to take Sasha for a ride but as I was working in the truck trying to figure out where my new rifle was going to be for the trip, she walked up to the truck and looked at me as if to ask if we were going for a ride.

I did get Sasha into the trailer for the first time.  She didn’t seem to mind it too much.  She looked around a bit then laid down while I worked in there.   She even came back on her own later in the afternoon.

The file transfer of my music library to Cheryl’s new computer finished sometime today while I was working at the house.  I’ve already started the transfer process of the photo library, and now that I’m thinking of it, I’ll kick off a transfer process for our home movies as well.  Hopefully they will be all transferred by morning.

The goal for tomorrow is to get the rest of the house cleaned out.  Maria is coming tomorrow morning to clean for me, so I will be trying to stay a room ahead of her cleaning efforts with my clearing efforts.  I’ve asked my eldest daughter to come by and clean up the mess in the basement left by my niece and youngest daughter.

I hope to relocate the two cats (Kira and Maury) that are not moving to Arizona with us tomorrow as well.

Alright, don’t want to bore you with any more of my usual overly optimistic planning for tomorrow.  We will just have to see how much gets done before Pete and Judy’s BBQ disocial gathering.

Move Prep Final Week – Monday

Oh so much left to do and so little time to do it.  It will be interesting to see how this week shakes out and if I delay my departure to get stuff done or if I just leave on schedule leaving behind work left to be done.

Yesterday my plan was to get the trailer completely packed.  Didn’t even get close.  Got the food all transferred from the house to the trailer.  I did get a few other things done though.

I got the “Sasha fence” up in the truck.  Within seconds of my departure of the truck on Sunday at Best Buy she decided the open windows in the front seats were far more attractive than the open windows near her in the back seat, so up to the front of the truck she went.  Hmmm…  That could be a problem if she decides to do that while I’m driving down the road.  A problem to be fixed.  Not to mention she is a drool monster.  After I got back to the truck and finally coaxed her to the back seat, I assessed the drool situation.  I was quite pleased to find she seeming had only drooled all over the windows.   That is until I reached back and grabbed a drool covered seat belt.  Yuck.  Solution:  A rope strung right and left across the cab of the truck connected to driver and passenger seat head rests hand grabs at the top of the rear doors on both sides.  This effectively prevents her from trying to come through the space between the driver and passenger seat yet gives her space to stick her head up there for some love’ins and to drool on the center console and my right arm.

I took Sasha for a truck ride for the third day in a row.  She is getting a bit more comfortable getting into the truck.  Yesterday was Hersey’s first truck ride and so far as I know the first time he was that close to Sasha.  He did fine as well – stayed in the passenger seat and cried much of the trip to Lending Hands and back.

I took a break to socialize with some friends from work and their spouses.

I signed up for this blog site and wrote the introduction.  Albeit I spent a bit of time editing it again this morning (maybe due to the alcohol I consumed last night?) and learning more about the user interface for posting blogs using World Press.

On the agenda for today:

  • Finish packing the trailer and clearing the house of anything not staying behind.
  • Finish transferring music, pictures, and home movies to my wife’s (Cheryl’s) new computer.
  • Take the Sasha and Hersey for another ride (destination TBD).
  • Work on various minor repairs on the house and trailer.

Time to get to work.
